Day in the life of
PR Manager – Morgan Oliveira
My work life is different day to day, depending on the project or client I’m working with at the moment. However, I enjoy the variety and ability to help many different startups create, define, and share their stories. I do many different types of work when it comes to communications with startups. Some of these include creating messaging for them, helping them find and clarify their brand and how they’d like to speak about themselves, and a lot of work with the press.
There are a lot of pros to working in my field, as well as working for yourself. For one, it’s very creative, and the storytelling aspect is one that I truly enjoy and thrive on. There is a lot of variety and interesting things happening in the space of food tech, the vertical I mainly focus on, which is also an added benefit. However, the PR aspect does get more difficult every year. With new types of marketing and fewer and fewer writers, getting earned media has become much more challenging than in past years. But if you have the determination along with the right angles, stories, and pitches, it is still a career one can dive into, even now.
