Day in the life of
Chief Marketing Officer – Simon Elkjær
I’m Simon Elkjær, the Chief Marketing Officer of avXperten, home of Denmark’s most affordable electronics. I have more than a decade’s worth of experience in eCommerce, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
Given the range of responsibilities a CMO has, I personally believe that there isn’t a normal day for us CMO. However, I must say that despite the multiple responsibilities I have, these tasks have something in common. All of these efforts require a lot of planning, research, meetings, and assessments. Though this may sound like a heavy workload, I personally don’t mind since the variety of it all keeps me excited and on my toes.
The variety of these tasks is what makes being a CMO fun and fulfilling. There’s always a new trend, development, or event I have to study and prepare for, and not to mention the fact that I get to develop and monitor all of our campaigns. It’s great to come up with something that you know will connect well with people and see it take action.
This being said, the variety of tasks that a CMO has to accomplish can be the one that might make it overwhelming and difficult for some. As there’s always something new to study, develop, or monitor, one might find themselves stuck in limbo and not knowing what to do. Being a CMO is a very demanding job that you requires passion, dedication, along with the right skills and experience.
In order to make sure that you have what it takes and better prepare yourself for the job, you need to assess and hone your skills, while also developing all the mindset and stamina you need to lead a team.
The job as a CMO is far from easy but having the right skills, mindset, and attitude will help prepare you for the job and make you more than ready to take on the challenge.
