Unlike most unhappy lawyers, I love being a lawyer, and it has opened up many amazing opportunities for me in business!

Becoming a lawyer takes a lot of hard work and dedication, but it’s the career I decided on when I watched my dad’s business get sued for $90,000. My father owned a small business and was sued by a friend he had hired. I experienced the pain and devastation firsthand that business owners face when someone sues them. It destroyed my father’s business, so I made it my life’s mission to help other business owners protect themselves and their businesses legally.

If it’s something you’re passionate about, all the hard work is well worth it. Also, there are many different areas of law out there and you can pick the one you want to specialize in.

Pros

One of the pros is that you can truly make a difference in someone’s life and save them tons of stress and money. Attorneys play a vital role in the judicial system, and just seeing my clients go from confused, intimidated by the law to breathing a huge sigh of relief after working with me is priceless. They literally tell me, “you are my lifesaver!”.

This alone gives meaning to my life.

Cons

The cons are the long hours you work and the number of years you have to go to college, law school, and then pass the bar exam. Also, the cost of law school education is huge. I had to pay back $150,000 in law school student loans, which was stressful and not easy.

Overall, it’s a rewarding profession and you can do a lot with a law degree!
