I’m an Instructional Aide for the Sped Dept.

My typical day

My typical day at work consists of smiling and greeting the kids as they come in during my morning duty. After duty, I get ready to start my day, with my cup of on my way to first period class offering support as an Instructional Aide to Special Ed students in the general Ed class room where I enrich their learning with tools I’ve gain over my 15 year tenure of working with children.

Pros

  • My job allows me the flexibility to engage freely with students and teachers.
  • The ability to be creative and in finding ways to help children be successful.
  • Working on a supportive team.
  • Collaborating with teacher in an effort to inspiring learning.
  • Open communication.
  • An environment that makes you happy to come to work.

Cons

  • Dealing with challenging behavior and disrespectful attitudes in children.
  • Lack of sufficient time to help our youth with assignments and projects.
  • Lack of funds to help with extra curriculum creation and development.
  • Low morale in faculty and staff.
  • Resistance to change.
  • Ill preparedness.
