General and Operations Managers in the public sector often have a degree in business administration, public administration, law, or the liberal arts. General and Operations Managers of large corporations often have a master of business administration (MBA).
How hard is it
You may need some previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience to be a General and Operations Manager. For example, an electrician must complete three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.
