I am the owner and sole attorney at Spear IP, a small internet and intellectual property law practice based in Nashville, TN.

I get to spend my day helping my clients protect the most valuable parts of their business — their creative, intangible property and their relationships — via copyright law, trademark law, and contracts. I also counsel my clients on marketing and doing business online legally.

Pros

The pros (which greatly outweigh the cons!) are that I get to work with incredibly creative entrepreneurs doing business online. Whether my clients are creating a fun, new DIY or publishing a new podcast episode on financial tips for millennials, I am constantly inspired by them and proud to help them protect that valuable property.

Cons

The cons are that the legal industry can be stressful in general, particularly when there’s a dispute. Sending cease-and-desist letters isn’t a pretty part of the job, but it’s very necessary sometimes.
