Sailboat Skipper

I used to be a sailboat skipper in Greece. That is essentially the captain of a sailboat when the yacht is on charter by a group that doesn’t know how to sail a boat.

My typical day was pretty straightforward. We would wake up and have breakfast and decided which island or beach we should head to. I would navigate us there and the clients/crew was either having drinks/helped around the boat or sleeping until we got there.

After that, I would set anchor and spend the day at the beach, have lunch and let the crew decide if they want to spend the night at the same location or head back to a dock or marina.

Pros

The pros of the job was that the pay was great, roughly $250-350 per day with food and drink expenses paid. However, the responsibility that came with a job was pretty stressful since you can have anywhere from 4 to 10 people on board and their well-being was solely on you and your skills.

Cons

Also, another con of the job was clients/guests that with foul manners and overall disrespectful attitude but you still had to be polite and respectful back to them. However, I have found that people that choose these kinds of vacations are usually calm and well-behaved individuals.
