Day in the life of
Recruiter – David Moise
I run an IT staffing company. Here is what my typical day looks like:
Manage the Sales team: We are constantly running metrics on the sales team. How many appoints, orders, candidate interviews, closes, start dates to name a few. We want to monitor more than just closed business. The best way to monitor a sales team is to make sure they ae doing the activity that leads to new business.
Manage the Recruiting team: I make sure we prioritize what the recruiting team is looking for. The short answer is we want them to recruit for “closest to the money”. The longer answer is we have a dozen criteria to evaluate roles we are recruiting on. Those criteria give us a job score. The highest score wins the recruiters time.
Manage Sales vs Recruiting: In every recruiting company, there is an inevitable conflict between sales and recruiting. The recruiters are always wanting to promote their candidates and want to get feedback to them as quickly as possible. The sales team always wants better candidates and has to work to get feedback on interviews from multiple sources at the client.
Marketing: We are constantly creating content on the site and distributing that on social media. There are always plates spinning. We adopted multiple low-code solutions to automate the marketing.
Media: I am a contributor to the Forbes Technology Council. I write articles and answer panel discussions to appear on their site. This is a great way to promote our brand.
Tech Talks: I regularly gather the staff and present a “tech talk”. My goal is to help them understand the basics of the technical jargon they hear. Examples include – “What are and why do we have all these Javascript frameworks – Angular, React, Node, etc” and “Why is DevOps a thing now”
Admin: Payroll, timesheets, insurance, software licenses, invoicing, and making sure we have coffee. While I do not do all these, I need to know the final version of them all.
