Logistics Coordinator – Michael Melwicks
The logistics field is broad but everything boils down to logistics coordination. During a typical day a Logistics Coordinator could do the following:
- Check on the status of current projects
- Updated Customers as to the status of a current project
- Compile bids and vendor pricing
- Submit bids or quotes
- Develop new vendors
- Set up contracts for service
- Deal with any vendor discrepancies
Your day is spent on damage control or compliance. Things are not perfect most of the time in logistics. You get in, have a coffee, and start making sure that everything that is happening is going as planned. Beyond that, you continue to set up new transportation moves requested by your customer or project. So basically you are constantly setting up new jobs and checking on current ones to make sure they are moving forward as planned.
Most of your time is usually spent looking for vendors/services providers to best fit the project requirements you are working on. This is the number one actionable job duty in logistics daily.
