Day in the life of
Investment Banking Associate – Connor Brown
A typical day involves performing financial analysis on behalf of my clients. In particular, I am often tasked with evaluating high-value business decisions through performing an NPV analysis. NPV analyses help companies evaluate potential investments and the long-term returns on those investments. In addition to analyzing these business decisions, I am often tasked with packaging the numbers in a way that allows senior executives to take action. This includes sensitivity analyses and evaluating various alternatives to the proposed solution.
Pros
One of my favorite parts of my job is helping to guide companies on financial decisions. The outcomes of the projects on which I work often alter the future of a company in a meaningful way. Being able to see the outcomes of my work in a tangible way is very rewarding. Additionally, I greatly enjoy working with the talented people on my team. Having great teammates makes any job a heck of a lot better.
Cons
The biggest con associated with my role is that the hours can be quite long. That said because I enjoy what I do, the hours are manageable, and over time, I have found ways to balance my work with other parts of my life.
