Day in the life of
Entertainment Travel Coordinator – Janelle Axton
In this role, I was coordinating the travel logistics for touring musicians (mostly hip-hop and rappers, our biggest stars being Chris Brown and Alessia Cara).
My days would consist of a morning team meeting to review our in-process tours, upcoming tours, and the status of their bookings, as well as any new tours we may have received. I was overseeing about 3-5 tours at the time, all in various stages. I was the main point of contact with the hotel, bus driver, and of course the tour manager. We would get a room list and information on what the group needed, (how many rooms, type, bus requirements, special requests, etc.) and I would research and book hotels and buses for each stop on the tour. I handled any last-minute requests or issues to ensure the tour ran smoothly.
Pros and Cons
This job was a fantastic foot in the door of both the entertainment and travel industries, but it ultimately did not line up with my personal interests. I enjoyed working with the tour managers and crafting at our from basically nothing (plus the free backstage concerts weren’t bad either!), but there was a lot of pressure to get bookings completely perfect as we were working with big budgets for high-profile artists.
