Day in the life of
Chief Revenue Officer – Rob Koenen
Every day is new…and that’s what I love about it. Today I was interviewed on a podcast regarding Boxed Water’s impact on the planet vs plastic and aluminum – spoiler alert – they contribute over twice the impact on carbon footprint and smog.
We presented to some potential accounts who are looking to ditch the plastic, reviewed the website as a team to make sure we have provided the most recent information on climate change, then reviewed financials and sales data to make sure we are on track as a company for our goals. Then, we had more conversations with the Sales and Marketing teams on potential partnerships and new accounts. The world wants sustainable alternatives and we are the most sustainable offering in the carton category – at 92% made from renewable materials.
I also spend a ton of time answering emails from customers or potential customers explaining why we are a “better” alternative to plastic/aluminum…and later will talk to the National Forest Foundation about our next reforestation effort. All-in-all a pretty fun day.
Pros
I love my coworkers so much that I’ll say it again…I love my coworkers. It’s inspiring to be surrounded by talented people who are passionate about helping the planet and also very good at what they do. Our team all rows together…there’s no egos or politics in our world and we all lean-in to help each other.
I also like working for a company that cares about its people and has a higher purpose–helping the planet in any way we can. Our core product is offering a sustainable alternative, but we also have planted over 1.2 million trees, cleaned thousands of miles of beaches, and created an online community that is creative and engaged in helping.
Cons
The only thing I don’t like about my job is the frustration over seeing plastic bottles still being purchased and the missed opportunities to offer a sustainable alternative. A lot of times, it’s because either people don’t know about us, or companies are being swayed by millions of dollars offered from Big Plastic companies. We’re making progress, but I’m impatient, and 9M tons of plastic enter our oceans and landfills every year…we can’t keep up.
