Day in the life of
Chief Revenue Officer – Colton Horn
My primary role as a Chief Revenue Officer in our organization is to build robust and scalable systems to grow revenue in the near and long term. To do so, I am responsible for leading sales teams to open and support retail and distribution opportunities, as well as marketing teams to a) structure brand-building partnerships with influencers and platforms, b) paid media strategies to earn new e-commerce business and c) content / communications strategy to nurture existing consumer relationships.

My typical day
Every day is atypical in the start-up stage, but they generally involve some combination of internal meetings (sales, marketing, finance, and operations), evaluating brand-building opportunities, reviewing progress of ongoing projects or campaigns, and carving out time for both shallow work (easier, more basic or tedious tasks) as well as deep work (highly focused execution or forward planning).
Pros
I am deeply passionate and excited about what we are building, so experiencing it grow from an idea to an actual product to a rapidly growing brand has been incredibly fulfilling.
Cons
I often find myself in situations that require quick and intuitive decision-making, which can come with added pressure when lacking the experiences or skill sets to make those decisions with confidence. Fortunately, we have added tremendous talent and expertise to our team that can help me navigate these challenges and learn as quickly as possible.
