MRI Technologists
MRI Technologists operate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanners. Monitor patient safety and comfort, and view images of area being scanned to ensure quality of pictures. May administer gadolinium contrast dosage intravenously. May interview patient, explain MRI procedures, and position patient on examining table. May enter into the computer data such as patient history, anatomical area to be scanned, orientation specified, and position of entry.

An associate’s degree is the most common educational path for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologists. There are postsecondary education programs in radiography and MRI that lead to graduate certificates, associate’s degrees, or bachelor’s degrees. Education programs typically include both classroom training and clinical training. Coursework includes anatomy, pathology, patient care, radiation physics and protection, and image evaluation.
How hard is it
You may need some previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience to be a Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist. For example, an electrician must complete three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.
