Most companies require Electrical Power-Line Installers and Repairers to have a high school diploma or equivalent. Many community colleges offer programs in telecommunications, electronics, or electricity. More advanced 2-year associate’s degree programs provide students with a broad knowledge of the technology used in telecommunications and electrical utilities. These programs offer courses in electricity, electronics, fiber optics, and microwave transmission.
How hard is it
You may need some previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience to be an Electrical Power-Line Installer and Repairer. For example, an electrician must complete three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.
