Day in the life of
Communications Director – Azure Hall
I am the Communications Director for US Ghost Adventures, a walking ghost tour company operating in more than 30 cities across the country and growing.
I balance my time between media relations, blogger management, and social media management. Along with cultivating relationships with local and national media, I plan and execute compelling social media content to engage and retain our audience. I give interviews with local reporters, facilitate experiences for interested bloggers, and appear on podcasts discussing our company and ghost tourism in general. I also manage a small team of bloggers who create content for our local websites, assign them stories, and edit their articles.
Pros
The biggest pro of my job is connecting with people across the country and sharing in their passion for local history and the paranormal. As a communicator, people are at the heart of my work and this job allows me to make connections.
Cons
While possibly not a con, a difficulty of my job is time management and task prioritization. The daily tasks of social media management can be overshadowed by more pressing tasks when in the middle of a large public relations campaign. It requires strict scheduling and occasional odd hours to get everything finished in a timely manner.
