We also asked Stonemasons what did they major in college or university and here are the top 5 most popular majors that came up.
Mason |
A high school diploma or equivalent is required for all stonemasons. Although most brickmasons, blockmasons, and stonemasons (masons) learn through an apprenticeship, some learn their skills on the job. Others learn through 1- or 2-year mason programs at technical schools. Many technical schools offer 1-year programs in basic masonry. These programs operate both independently and in conjunction with apprenticeship training. The credits earned as part of an apprenticeship program usually count toward an associate’s degree. Some people take courses before being hired, and some take them later as part of on-the-job training.
How hard is it
You may need some previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience to be a Stonemason. For example, an electrician must complete three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.

These careers usually involve using communication and organizational skills to coordinate, supervise, manage, or train others to accomplish goals.
