Although postsecondary education is not required for most photographers, many take classes or earn a bachelor’s degree in photography or a related field, which can improve their skills and employment prospects. Entry-level positions in photojournalism or in industrial or scientific photography generally require a college degree in photography or in a field related to the industry in which the photographer seeks employment. Business, marketing, and accounting classes can be helpful for self-employed photographers.
How hard is it
You may need some previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience to be a Photographer. For example, an electrician must complete three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.
Careers in this difficulty category will usually need 1 or 2 years of on-the-job training and informal training with experienced workers. These careers usually involve using communication and organizational skills to coordinate, supervise, manage, or train others to accomplish goals.
