Most states require Educational, Guidance, School, and Vocational Counselors to have a master’s degree in school counseling or a related field. Most employers prefer that career counselors have a master’s degree in counseling with a focus on career development. Educational, Guidance, School, and Vocational Counselors who work in private practice may also need a license.
How hard is it
You will need an extensive amount of skill, knowledge and experience to be an Educational, Guidance, School and Vocational Counselor. Many require more than five years of experience.
